Two Milwaukee men hurt when minivan hits semi in Dodge County

A northbound minivan crossed into the southbound lane and struck a semi-truck Friday morning on County Road A in the Town of Oak Grove, Dodge County, injuring two Milwaukee men. The 26-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; a 42-year-old passenger was flown by Flight for Life with serious injuries. The semi’s driver, a 38-year-old Oshkosh man, was not hurt. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened at about 6:43 a.m., south of County Road S, and remains under investigation. Appleton shooting injures multiple people; no one in custody

Green Bay fire station reopens four months after flood damage

Alabama administrator Tonja Johnson selected to lead Wisconsin university system

The Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents unanimously selected Tonjanita “Tonja” L. Johnson, a senior administrator in the University of Alabama System, as the public university system’s next president on Oct. 30. Johnson, 57, is expected to take office around Jan. 1, 2027, becoming the system’s 10th president and succeeding Jay Rothman, whom the regents fired in April. Johnson has served as Alabama’s senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs since 2019, overseeing academic planning, student success and institutional research. The Universities of Wisconsin enroll more than 164,500 students across 13 universities and employ about 41,000 faculty and staff. Interim President Renée Wachter will remain in the role until Johnson starts, then return as chancellor of UW-Superior.
